I stayed at Ambia this past winter and absolutely fell in love with the place and with Bob…This little hotel is a small slice of heaven…The property is spectacular….Fabulous views, Well appointed rooms, Great location….. Bob cooks a fabulous full breakfast each morning with local fruits, french pastries, and herbs from the hotels garden….I am returning to Anguilla for another visit next week and am staying at Ambia again…
Ambia is a gorgeous and serene escape from the ordinary. Designed and built by the owner, it has an Asian ambiance of simplicity and grace, comfort and style. Tropical flowers and greenery and cool stone create a peaceful ambiance as you look out over the harbor from the pool. Join your host at his own dreamhouse. You’ll love it.

We stayed in Ambia for only 3 nights, 4 days.. I know I know.. it’s not enough.. however we just enjoyed it so much! Strategic position (you are in the middle of the island), incredible view, super-friendly and funny people, great food! Do you need anything else??!! They have also a super-cool pool where you can enjoy some time at night after a wonderful day on the beach, enjoying the view of Sandy Ground and magical sunsets.. I don’t have to say anything about the house.. just check out the pictures..
One of the reason we liked so much this place were the persons; They were just great! Bob, Magda and Barbara make you feel like you’ve known them forever.. they give you great suggestions about places to go eat and best beaches on the island.. they are incredible cooks too. We just can’t wait to go back for a longer vacation!
Thank you Guys!

The moment we stepped into the premise, the view immediately took our breath away! A pool overlooking Sandy Ground, and tasteful design in every room we entered. Wherever we stood, we couldn’t help staring at the view. Especially at sun set time, the view is mesmerizing and we were totally hypnotized. One can see that a lot of thoughts have gone into the design of the house, as Bob (the owner) is also an architect and the creator of this beautiful house. Even small things like the wooden sun bathing chair right next to the pool are constructed with high quality craftsmanship.

It’s by chance that we came across this beautiful B&B through TripAdvisor and booked 2 nights with Bob. We hope we do enough justice by capturing the beauty of this place in our pictures and recommend others to give it a try . Lastly, THANK YOU for all the great hospitality including Bob, Magda, and Barbara! We enjoyed all the good conversations we had and the generous breakfast you fed us before we took off to swim and snorkel. We certainly can see ourselves visiting Ambia again!

i stayed at ambia for 8 weeks to escape the winter in the midwest..i contacted bob hurwit, the owner directly by email and made arrangements..i am a single female artist that was looking to paint during my stay…he offered to provide an easel and it was sitting in my room ready for me when i arrived…bob met me at the ferry after i flew in from st maarten…he was fun, appreciative and very accommodating….he loaded my bags and drove me to his hotel…ambia was completed in 2007 and it is beyond lovely…bob is an architect from back east and i cannot describe the attention to design detail at his place….he has five bedrooms, all terrific with contemporary furnishings and accessories, a bit of an asian flair with shoji screens for privacy at all the windows and doors…the bedrooms have select number beds, air conditioning and great open glass showers…the pool is fantastic with a stream fountain and built in seating…the surrounding deck has comfortable cushioned lounge chairs…the view overlooks sandy ground…every room has a private balcony with view and with shade provided…the landscaping is lush and tropical with a greenhouse on the property…
bob prepares breakfast every morning with gusto….the meal is enough to keep you going into the evening….bagels or toast, eggs; anyway you want them, grapefruit, bacon, tomatoes, juice and coffee….
he has been on the island off and on for 20 years and knows everything and everyone… the place is clean, well maintained, exquisitely designed and a place suited to groups, couples or singles that enjoy a quiet , peaceful place to chill….teenagers or adult children would enjoy ambia as well….it is located on south hill just next door to tastys restaurant…which is a plus because bob also will add your meals from tastys to your bill at the end of the stay…no need to carry money!! there is a roomy living area with large HD television and wireless internet service…bob is around in the mornings for breakfast and a nice chat, but is amazingly invisible when you want time to yourself in the kitchen, living room or pool…an absolutely perfect set up….i am so glad that i found bob and ambia on a random internet search…it is so much better than staying at a large hotel….i highly recommend ambia…..i welcome any and all questions about ambia and anguilla in general….i am a diver, snorkeler, sailor and general beach lover…I also have been to most all restaurants, bars, beaches on the island many times over now….i rented a car which is a must in anguilla unless you stay in one of the large resorts and dont ever venture out…i liked the local color and I enjoyed visiting all the art galleries, markets, music events, etc……i will definitely return to anguilla and intend to winter there again next year with bob at ambia….i hope to see you there!!!!

What a nice trip-Anguilla can be pricey with all of the new hotels and villas. Ambia was affordable, romantic and I felt like I was at home. I will be going back in December.

Stayed there for my honeymoon. Amazing view and gorgeous pool. Rooms are comfortable and Bob does an amazing spread for breakfast. Recommend a rental car and taking advantage of the great kitchen. Reasonably priced.

I spent 3 months at Ambia this year…(February-April, 2009) My intention was to visit Anguilla for a week or two and soak up some sun, do some scuba diving, and see a friend who was on the island…I ended up staying much longer…Anguilla resonated with me and I truly enjoyed every minute…Ambia was a wonderful place to hang my hat..Bob’s breakfasts were fantastic and the pool was a great place to read, relax and have a cold beer while watching the sunset…The location is great!… Ambia is directly over Sandy Ground where I spent Sundays at Johnno’s, Thursdays at Pumphouse and a few nights at Elvis’ every week…My room was very comfortable, with a great bed, air conditioning, wireless internet, and refrigerator…Bob is a great host and now a good friend…Ambia is a place I will return to over and over…

One of the most charming locations in Anguilla. After 10 years travelling to the island Ambia is definitely the first choice destination.

The view is magnificent, the decor is simple and sofisticated and the hosts are charming
